Copies of our book Echoes of Six Mile Lake: A Journey Through Time in Muskoka are still available for $70.00 and can be mailed at an extra cost.
Books are available at both marinas on the lake, the Honey Harbour Library or the Chamber of Commerce in Port Severn (Bressette House).

- In a recent Area Council update, Paul Wiancko alerted us to the dangers of the invasive Giant Hogweed.

The money could go towards our eurasian milfoil study, safety markers, regatta equipment and other physical lake improvements.
The contest is on from Mar 23 to Jul 15 with the winner being chosen in a random draw - in other words, the more we enter - the better our chances.
Take the time to do something positive for this 'great' lake...
Our hats off to the committed and caring women who took to the road in the 4th annual Walk for MS. The ladies worked very hard preparing food, gathering draw prizes and organizing the Provincial Park for the event.
This year, thanks to the walkers and many donations collected, they raised over $12,000, surpassing previous year totals. Six Mile Lake a beautiful place with some very special people.

Great news for those residents looking for a family physician. Those individuals without a family doctor, are required to register with the provincial agency Health Care Connect at 1-800-445-1822. Callers should have their health card handy. Once they are registered, they can request to be forwarded to Dr. Jeff Pitcher, family physician in Coldwater. The clinic is located at 45 River Street North (705) 686-3335

Ever wonder what kind of trees are on your property or wonder if you should plant some white pine down by the lake? We recently had the pleasure of a forester's tour of our bay. It was fascinating, informative, entertaining and free. Apparently, our District of Muskoka has a 'forest health program' that you, as a resident of Six Mile Lake, can utilize to learn about the trees and ecosystem the surround you. Forester Tony Armstrong gave our group of neighbours a walking seminar, identifying species, outlining good forest management practices and even showed us how to safely fell a tree. It was awesome.

Nurse practitioner, Dana Strength is opening up a NP station in the community of Wahta. Located in the community building on Muskoka Road 38, this modern, well-equiped facility is scheduled to open on October 1st. The practice will be open 5 days a week 8:00-4:30 and we will be year around. The station plans to be open for one evening, likely Wednesdays and close at 2:00 on Friday. Modelled after the very popular Rosseau Nursing station, this is good news for Six Mile and area residents who will now have access to 'local' health care.
